Social Development minister praises SCW’s role in supporting GCC women

Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, has praised the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for chairing the meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Women Affairs Standing Committee, which was established following a proposal by Bahrain.

The minister praised the role played by the SCW, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and SCW President, in supporting Bahraini women, which enabled them to perform their national political, economic and social roles to the fullest, under the comprehensive development project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He said that the GCC committee was proposed by Bahrain, within the framework of the efforts of uniting the visions of the GCC when it comes to the issues of women to build a competitive society which is equal and sustainable.

The minister noted that the initiatives and national strategies adopted by the SCW represented a roadmap to develop and enhance women role in vital areas.

He affirmed that the Social Development Ministry supports the SCW’s initiatives aimed at supporting the advancement of Bahraini women to become equal partners in achieving more national goals.
