SQU Organizes 2nd Annual Conference on Unmanned Vehicle Systems


Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) today organized the Second International Conference on Unmanned Vehicle Systems (UVS-Oman 2024). The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence.

The conference discussed automatic control technology, communications, related applications, traffic control, cargo, operations and maintenance, energy and networks.

Dr. Nabil Zahran Al Rawahi, Dean of the College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, said that the conference seeks to establish an interactive platform for exchanging ideas and technical experiences among people interested in unmanned vehicle systems (UVS), including academics, researchers, engineers, industrialists and regulators.

Hadj Bourdoucen, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, spoke about the rapid development of computer technology, automatic control technology and communications technology.

He pointed out that the global market for UVS applications i
s experiencing high demand, notably in the areas of agriculture, construction, logistics services, traffic surveillance, first aids, entertainment, security, and search and rescue operations and other domains.

The conference saw the opening of a specialized exhibition. A number of lectures will be held on navigation and control of unmanned vehicles, UVS maintenance operations, energy, networks and other applications.
