State Council Hosts TRC Officials

The State Council today hosted a number of officials at The Research Council (TRC) and those in charge of implementing the national innovation strategy to make a presentation on the strategy in the presence of the honorable members of the council, the Secretary General of the State Council, Dr. Hilal bin Ali al- Hinai, Secretary General of TRC, Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julandi al- Saidi, TRC Assistant Secretary General for Innovation Development and a number of officials and researchers at the State Council.

Dr. Khalid bin Salim al- Saeedi, Secretary General of State Council delivered the opening speech where he said that the State’ Council hosting today comes within the Council’s keenness to host officials at various orgnaizations to shed light on the efforts made in different spheres.

He pointed out at scientific research gains momentum day after day as it plays a key role in the growth of nations and promoting systematic, knowledge and innovation based development.

Dr. Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, Secretary General of TRC made a presentation on the importance of scientific research. He pointed out that successful international experiences were used in drafting the scientific research strategy to build a creative system that meets the local needs and keep pace with international tends, enhance social consistence and leads to innovation and scientific excellence.

Dr. Shareefa bint Hamoud al- Harthiyah, Senior Planning and Studies Specialist and Director of the National Innovation Strategy at TRC reviewed a number of issues related to the strategy. She pointed out that the vision of the strategy is to build an innovation based national economy and shift from revenue based economy to innovation led economy through an effective national innovation system for sustainable development which places the Sultanate among the top 20 countries in 2040 and amongst the top leading 40 countries in innovation in the world by 2020.
