State Council Reviews Health Insurance Application on Private Sector Employees

Muscat, The Economic and Social Committees of the State Council today hosted Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim al- Salmi, CEO of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and a number of officials of the Capital Market Authority, to show a presentation on the application of the health insurance system on private sector employees, expatriates residing in the Sultanate and visitors of the Sultanate.

The CMA officials gave a presentation on the system, in which they explained that CMA has developed, in coordination with relevant authorities, the draft laws and regulations necessary to apply the health insurance system in the Sultanate on private sector employees and expatriates residing in the Sultanate and its visitors, in addition to implement the instructions of the Council of ministers through coordination with other parties and to work internally to create the right environment to ensure proper implementation of the project.

The presentation also included an introduction of the steps taken by CMA to apply health insurance on employees in the private sector and visitors, including: the implementation of awareness campaign on health insurance, electronic linkage system for the project, providing legislative, legal and regulatory frameworks, and developing a special database, in addition to implementing the actuarial study of health insurance prices.

The members of the committees discussed the mechanism of applying the health insurance system on private sector employees, expatriates and residents in the Sultanate and its visitors, and the implications of its implementation and the readiness of private sector institutions and health institutions to implement it.
