‘STRONG REPUBLIC’ PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION VISITS BKIRKI ON EASTER: THERE WILL BE NO RESURRECTION FOR LEBANON BEFORE LIBERATING THE PRESIDENTIAL ENTITLEMENT FROM THE CLUTCHES OF THOSE FORCEFULLY CONFISCATING IT

Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, received in Bkirki today a delegation representing the ‘Strong Republic’ parliamentary bloc that participated in the Easter Mass, who extended their well-wishes on this blessed occasion.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, former Minister May Chidiac said that their visit to His Beatitude is to rejoice with him in the resurrection of Christ and to pray for the resurrection of Lebanon. ‘The symbolism of the historical resurrection is that it is a message to all humanity that the resurrection, meaning salvation, renewal, lack of despair, lack of frustration, and faith, will inevitably come, whatever the circumstances. This is our faith, this is who we are, and this is how we will remain,” Chidiac went on.

She added that “to achieve this resurrection, we must work towards the constants that unite us, the constants of the historical Maronite Church that His Beatitude the Patriarch stresses and we also stress with him, which are sovereignty, independence, o
ne weapon, one army, neutrality, pluralism, partnership, and equality.”

Chidiac considered that there could be no resurrection for Lebanon without the release of the presidential entitlement as quickly as possible from the clutches of those who have confiscated it by force. “For us, any president is a president who is clear about his commitment to the constitution and the principles in which we believe…a sovereign reformist president who is not affected by the balance of power, but rather impacts the course of political life based on his transparency and commitment to applicable laws,” she underlined.

Chidiac added that they also joined the Patriarch in praying for the intention of Lebanon, the South, and its people, so that God may protect them from all evil, especially since war was imposed on them which they had absolutely nothing to do with. “Priority must be to stop the war in the south. This decision must remain in the hands of the Lebanese state, and it is unacceptable for one political party to mo
nopolize the decision on war without returning to the rest of the Lebanese. What is happening is a catastrophe, the result of which is that our children are being displaced and dying, our villages are being destroyed, and our economy is collapsing more than it already has…The war must stop so that the tragedies and disasters would cease,” she emphasized.
