Sultanate Participates in Arab Economic and Social Council Session

Muscat, The Sultanate will participate in the 103rd

ordinary session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab Economic and

Social Council.

The meetings will be held tomorrow Thursday at the HQs’ of the

Arab League in Cairo under the chairmanship of Talal bin Suleiman

al-Rahbi, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Council of

Planning (SCP).

The Sultanate will chair deliberations of the 103rd session, where the

SCP Deputy Secretary General will deliver the opening speech of the

council.

The meeting will review the report of the Secretary General of the

Arab League on following-up implementation of the Council’s decisions

and the activities of the Secretariat General between the two sessions,

as well as discussing several topics, such as the Greater Arab Free

Trade Area (GAFTA) and the developments of the Arab Customs Union

(ACU) on investment in Arab countries.

The meeting will also discuss implementation of the 4th Arab-

African Summit resolutions and Riyadh declaration issued by the

Fourth Summit of Arab and South American Countries, besides

discussing cooperation fields between the Arab League and the United

Nations. Furthermore, it will also discuss the Arab international

cooperation in the social and developmental fields and the decisions of

the 38th Session of the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, in addition to a

number of topics relating to economic and social sectors.
