Muscat, On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic greeted His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, Omani people and the Arab and Islamic nations. The committee prayed to the Almighty Allah for many happy comebacks of the Eid, when the whole humanity is enjoying peace, stability and safety, and when the pandemic has vanished for good.
In a statement issued today as part of its ongoing sessions, the Supreme Committee voiced its appreciation for the great efforts exerted by medical teams as they battled the pandemic. “They are commendable efforts that will yield fruit when all members of society campaign to make this experience a success,” said the Supreme Committee, noting that the collective action will immensely diminish the health and social impacts of the pandemic.
The Supreme Committee also thanked all the departments concerned for their efforts in implementing its decisions. In this context, the Committee hailed the role of the Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution Department for ambushing and litigating offenders who breached the panel’s decisions.
The Supreme Committee reviewed the developments of the pandemic, measures to curb the spread of coronavirus and the epidemiological situation in the Sultanate. It expressed its delight at the gradual decline in the number of patients admitted to hospital wards and intensive care units in different parts of the country, noting that this progress would not have been achieved had it not been for the cooperation of all members of society and their commitment to rules and decisions. To this effect, the Supreme Committee took the following decisions effective ?from Saturday, 15 May 2021?, till further notice:
First: To end the ban on movement of people and vehicles.
Second: To prohibit all commercial outlets from receiving customers inside their premises in all governorates of the Sultanate ?between 8 pm and 4 am? all days, while at the same time allowing the services of home delivery and handing over items to customers outside outlets. This ban exempts foodstuff sale outlets.
In this context, the Supreme Committee affirms the sustained enforcement of its decision on downsizing the number of visitors to commercial complexes, trade outlets and restaurants by 50% of the outlets’ capacity or less during the period of non-prohibition of customer reception.
Third: To continue to enforce the decision on 50% downsizing of the number of employees required to attend at the workplace in units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus and other legal entities, provided that employees not attending at the workplace perform their tasks online.
The Supreme Committee exhorts all parties to take necessary precautions to stem the spread of the virus. It urges the private sector to implement online work plans and cut down the number of employees required to attend the workplace.
