The President of the Republic mourns the poet Lamia’ Abbas Amara, describing her as a milestone in Iraqi culture

Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, mourned the well-known Iraqi poet Lamia’ Abbas Amara, who passed away today, Friday, at the age of 92, after a struggle with illness.

Salih wrote, in a tweet via the Twitter social networking platform, “We bid farewell to the great poet Lamia’ Abbas Amara, in her exile, and bid farewell to more than five decades of the beauty industry. The late woman planted in our memory poems, literary creativity, and patriotic stances, as Amara constituted a milestone in Iraqi culture, in colloquial and classical, and we ask God for forgiveness for her soul and patience for her generous family and her lovers.”
