The Sultanate Marks International Civil Aviation Day

Muscat, The Sultanate, represented by the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA), will celebrate tomorrow (Friday) the International Civil Aviation Day on December 7th under the theme ” Working Together to Ensure No Country is Left Behind. ” This theme was adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the period 2015 to 2018.

On the occasion, Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser al- Za’abi, CEO of PACA, emphasized the role played by the Sultanate represented by PACA to achieve the development goals set by ICAO to improve the level of civil aviation at the regional and international levels. He added,” PACA is keen in supporting the strategies and methods followed by ICAO in safety and security of civil aviation, environmental protection and sustainable development of air transport to ensure the acceleration of future national economic growth and investment in various fields of the sector.”

He highlighted the prominent achievements of the Sultanate in aviation sector in 2018, namely the opening of Muscat International Airport which has accomplished a number of achievements since its operations in March, the latest of which is winning World’s Leading New Airport in 2018 at the World Travel Awards, Lisbon in Portugal.
