“TODAY’S ELECTIONS AN ACHIEVEMENT IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD,” UNDERLINES MIKATI

Prime Minister Najib Mikati asserted that “what happened today is an achievement in every sense of the word, and the state has fulfilled its duty in fully completing the elections.”

Following his meeting with Minister Bassam Mawlawi at the Interior Ministry after the closing of polls this evening, Mikati said: “Today, the state mobilized with all its elements, including the army, security forces, poll chiefs, judges, and more than 120,000 persons on the ground, and this is an achievement we are proud of…”

He added in response to a question, “We hope that these elections will produce a parliament that cooperates with the upcoming executive authority in order to help Lebanon out of its current crisis.”

“With the resignation of the government, I hope that parliamentary consultations will not be delayed to save Lebanon,” Mikati underscored.
