Minister of Tourism, Walid Nassar, concluded his tour in the cities of Tripoli and al-Mina this afternoon, by meeting with journalists at Al-Azem Cultural Center’s “Beit al-Fan”, where he touched on the prevailing situation and hoped that underway contacts will result in the near convening of the Council of Ministers.

“We all count on the wisdom of Prime Minister Mikati, fellow ministers and His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, so that the contacts will contribute to the resumption of cabinet sessions in the near future, God willing,” Nassar said, adding that each cabinet minister must strive to restore the citizen’s confidence by working hard, and “also to restore the confidence of the international community, particularly the Arab countries and our Arab nation.”

“We are pleased to be in Tripoli today and we look forward to getting a lot of work done, and my visit is a quick prelude, as we have reopened the office of the Ministry of Tourism and launched the visitor service experience from here, in addition to opening a center for tourism and culture in the Tripoli Chamber,” he added.

Nassar considered that the city of Tripoli is large and requires a lot of work to be done, under the directives of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, noting that they have agreed to form a steering committee or working cell, with its members being from all disciplines, i.e. the private sector, municipalities, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Nassar commended the “Beit al-Fan” which he described as an “art icon” in itself with specifications that can be used in tourism or in culture and in the various projects to be undertaken.

“Tripoli is the capital of the north and the second largest city in Lebanon, and it is the economic capital, and we hope, as a Ministry of Tourism, with the Ministries of Culture and Environment and all the ministries with which we have common denominators, to provide added value to Tripoli which deserves all good,” he concluded.
