The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has launched a public consultation on its regulation/guideline for regulating the registration and use of radio frequencies and devices and determining their prices.
The consultation, launched via TRA Twitter account and website, was aimed at revising TRA regulation/guideline in accordance with the recommendations and decisions of the International Telecommunication Union and international organizations in a manner that achieves telecommunications market needs in Oman.
The consultation deals with 4 main topics, namely updating the regulatory and technical requirements of TRA guideline, keeping pace with the rapid development of radio communications technology, supporting innovative business models (locally) and upgrading the quality of telecommunication services.
The review seeks to manage natural and national resources efficiently, develop a flexible and investment-friendly regulatory environment, encourage research and enable investment in innovative technologies and services.
Through such consultations, TRA involves beneficiaries and stakeholders in drawing up regulations and related systems. This approach establishes an enhanced environment for a digitally savvy society based on empowerment, initiative, innovation and cooperation.
