Transport Minister Receives Chairman of ICAO Council

Montreal, Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology met at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) today with Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council.

The meeting reviewed areas of cooperation to boost the quality and safety of international air navigation through Oman’s airspace. It also explored means of enhancing cooperation in air transport services to boost the operations of airline companies between Omani and European airports in line with the initiated comprehensive air transport agreement signed between Oman and the European Union (EU).

The meeting also touched on the coordination in areas of common interest in the legal field and the progress made in Oman’s corrective action plan for the ICAO’s audit on monitoring aviation safety. In this field, ICAO’s indicators show Oman’s progress on the international scale.

Specialists from the ICAO lauded Oman’s efforts in implementing the plan of reducing carbon emissions.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Naif Ali Al Abri, Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Moosa Hamdan Al Tae’i, Ambassador of Oman to the United States (US) and the non-resident ambassador of Oman to Canada and Mexico.
