Two child survivors of the Nuseirat massacre: Israeli soldiers deliberately wounded us

Gaza – Together – After 3 days, the child Muhammad Matar (15 years old) still remembers the horrors of the massacre committed by the Israeli army against the Palestinians in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, from which he miraculously survived, as he told Anadolu.

On a bed in Nasser Medical Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, Matar lies receiving treatment after the Israeli army hit him from zero range with two bullets directly in his shoulder and stomach, where the bullet entered and exited through his back.

On Saturday, 274 Palestinians were killed and more than 698 others were injured in a massacre committed by Israeli forces after a violent artillery and air strike targeting the Nuseirat camp in Gaza, according to what was announced by the government media office in Gaza, which caused a widespread wave of condemnation.

Shells were fired at us

. On Saturday, the child Matar was wandering in the street when he heard the sounds of explosions resulting from intense raid
s launched by the Israeli army on areas close to him at the time.

At that time, Matar did not expect that the area where he lived in the Nuseirat camp would turn into a heated battlefield.

Within seconds, Muhammad saw – as he told Anadolu – about 7 helicopters flying overhead and firing their shells randomly into the street in which he was walking.

He added: “The planes started firing missiles at us (he and those who were walking around in the street), at a distance of about 5 to 10 meters from us.”

Muhammad quickly headed towards the house, and gathered with his family members in the basement to take cover from the fragments of the shells that were flying towards them.

Minutes later, the family heard the sounds of Israeli tanks advancing in the area, so they quickly ran towards the first floor to be safe from any bullets that might be fired at them.

Direct shooting.

It was not long before an Israeli army force stormed the home of the child Matar and his family and began committing crimes, according to
him.

He continued: “There were about 10 people in the house, and suddenly the army pulled my brother, my father, and my grandfather, blindfolded them and put black bags over their heads.”

He explained that one of the army personnel approached him without warning, and fired a bullet at his shoulder and another at his stomach, exiting through his back.

After he was hit by two bullets, the soldier directly asked him to stand on his feet, but he could not, saying: ‘My body was paralyzed at that time, but he forcibly lifted me up and then threw me to the ground forcefully.’

He continued, adding: “They also shot my younger brother and killed him as a martyr, while my aunt (his mother’s sister) was also hit by bullets.”

He pointed out that the injured remained bleeding for more than half an hour until they were transferred to hospitals.

Matar says that the force that stormed their house included American soldiers, adding: ‘The American thunderbolt signal was on their shoulder.’

They threw an explosive ball at

the child, Muhammad Al-Samuni (9 years old), who also survived this massacre. He was injured in his right hand during the Israeli military operation.

He told Anadolu: ‘We were sitting in a tent that we were displaced to in the camp, and suddenly we saw tanks and Israeli soldiers in front of us.’

He explained that some soldiers threw an explosive ball at him, which immediately caused an injury that led to a severe tear in his right hand.

He also stated that his father and brother were killed instantly during the massacre, without further details.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza that has left more than 121,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues its war despite a decision by the UN Security Council to stop it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of the city of Rafah in the sout
h of the Gaza Strip, and to take measures to prevent acts of ‘genocide’ and improve the miserable humanitarian situation in Gaza.
