UAE, Russia presidents discuss strategic partnership

UAE President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday discussed bilateral relations as well as strategic partnership.

The meeting was held on sidelines of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023 and within the framework of a visit by Sheikh Mohammad to Russia.

Official website of the Russian Presidency quoted Putin as describing the UAE “a good and comfortable partner,” noting that the economy and social structure in the UAE are actively developing. He also stressed that relations between Russia and the UAE are “developing successfully,” adding that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is “large” and is of benefit to both.

For his part, the UAE president stressed importance of accelerating efforts to mitigate the humanitarian repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and support prisoner-exchange initiatives, according to Emirates News Agency, (WAM).

Sheikh Mohammad expressed UAE’s keenness on cooperation and partnerships with Russia and various countries of the world in a way that enhances common interests and achieves development and prosperity for all.

The Russian and UAE presidents toured the corridors of the Economic Forum in St. Petersburg and inspected the UAE pavilion.
