UN Secretary General Calls for Immediate End to Fighting in Ethiopia

Bogota, Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) called for an end to fighting in Ethiopia, urging Ethiopian leaders to follow the example of the peace process.

“The peace process in Colombia today inspires me to make an urgent call to the protagonists of the conflict in Ethiopia for an unconditional and immediate ceasefire,” Guterres added, in remarks made in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

The Ethiopian Cabinet announced on 2 November a state of emergency across the country, and explained that it will remain in effect for a period of six months.
