UN Welcomes Oman’s Positive Role in Tackling Yemeni Crisis

New York, The Sultanate of Oman and the United Nations (UN) today held a meeting during which they reviewed developments of the situation in the Yemeni Republic.

The meeting took place at the offices of Oman’s Permanent Delegation to the UN here.

Oman’s delegation at the meeting was headed by its Permanent Representative to the UN, Dr. Mohammed bin Awadh Al Hassan, while David Grisley, the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs inYemen, represented the international organisation.

Grisley reiterated the UN’s welcome for the positive role of the Omani government in seeking ways to resolve the Yemeni crisis.

The two sides explored means of alleviating the Yemeni people’s humanitarian suffering. They stressed the significance of engaging the global community so that it could exert more efforts and stand by the Yemeni people in their predicament.

While appreciating the international efforts made so far for the restoration of security and stability in Yemeni, the two sides called for a re-start of negotiations to settle the differences between Yemeni parties by peaceful means.
