US Acting Defense Secretary Arrives in Kabul

Kabul, US Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan arrived in Kabul on an unannounced visit as the United States is holding peace talks with Taliban.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP) Patrick Shanahan will hold a series of meetings, most notably with President Ashraf Ghani, whom Taliban refuses to negotiate with.

AFP added that the visit comes after the United States announced that its envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad will start a six-nation tour to facilitate dialogue between the parties to the Afghani conflict.
