US administration: Arms supplies to Israel will stop if aid does not enter Gaza

Washington – Ma’an – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned Israel that if Israel does not stop preventing the entry of American humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip within 30 days, the US administration will act under the “National Security Memorandum” and prevent the transfer of weapons to Israel under the Foreign Assistance Act.

This warning was conveyed to Israel through an official American document, according to what Israeli media reported today, Tuesday.

The US National Security Memorandum, which was issued last March, included several conditions for the United States to continue supplying Israel with weapons.

Israel subsequently pledged not to arbitrarily prevent or restrict, directly or indirectly, the transfer or delivery of U.S. humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, or the international efforts led by the United States to provide humanitarian aid.

The US warning comes after the ban on the entry of food supplies into the northern Gaza Strip, under the “Gener
als’ Plan” drawn up by retired Israeli General Giora Eiland, which Israel claims it is not implementing.

The US administration demanded that Israel implement concrete steps within 30 days, and warned that failure to implement the steps would lead to consequences in the continuation of its military aid to Israel, which requires the approval of Blinken and Austin.
