USMNT Draws with Uruguay on Road to Qatar 2022

Washington— USMNT showed a solid defense and cut Uruguay’s five-game winning streak in a row, the score in Kansas City was 0-0.

The South Americans had just beaten Mexico 3-0, a direct rival of Team USA, so an open game with goals was expected, but the team of the stars and stripes knew how to play their game and remain undefeated in their territory. The United States (US) has not known what it’s like to lose at home since 2019.

The US coach, Gregg Berhalter, started players like: Yedlin, Zimmerman, McKennie, Weah and Pulisic; on the other hand, Diego Alonso only started with two men from his main squad: Muslera and Godín.

In the second half, Vecino, Valverde and Cavani came on, Cavani missing a clear goal in the 90th minute.

Uruguay will continue their CONCACAF tour, their next match will be a friendly against Jamaica: United States will play in the CONCACAF Nations League.

The US needed to know who would complete Group B of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. With Wales’ win, the Americans knew their opponents and the Group was as follows: England, Iran, USA and Wales, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
