Wadi Adei Dam Project Kicks Off in Wilayat of Muttrah


The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources began implementing the Wadi Adai Dam project for protection against flood risks.

The construction of the dyke, located alongside Wadi Adei valley in the Wilayat of Muttrah in Muscat Governorate, cost an estimated RO 38 million.

Eng. Nasser Mohammed Al Battashi, Director General of Water Resources Assessment at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, said that the construction of the ‘Wadi Adai’ dam in this important location plays a major role in protecting the target areas against the risks posed by rainwater floods.

He pointed out that the dam began to be constructed in February 2024 and that it would take 30 months to complete by the end of 2026.

Al Battashi explained that the dam would have a storage capacity of 23 million cubic metres and that the project includes the installation of devices to measure groundwater levels, water level its lake and silt in the lake, in addition to devices to measure the strength of flood cu
rrents, among other uses.
