WOMAN, SON BURNED TO DEATH IN HOUSE FIRE IN MALAYSIA’S KOTA KINABALU

A woman and her son were burned to death in a fire, at their house in Tenom, early today.

The bodies of Wong Siu Mei, 46, and her son, Wong Ka Seng, eight, were found in a room, on the upper floor of the house, the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said, in a statement.

“They were trapped in the house by the grilles, which were locked,” it said.

It also said that, Siu Mei’s husband, Wong Vun Tsung, 38, suffered 27 percent burns on his body.

The department said, it was summoned at 2.35 am (local time), and rushed six firefighters in two trucks from the Tenom Fire and Rescue Station, to the house.

The fire was brought under control at 3.10 am, and the operation was completed at 5.15 am, it said, adding that, the cause of the fire and the estimated damage had yet to be ascertained
