World Weightlifting Championship to be held under HH Shaikh Nasser’s patronage

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), the World Weightlifting Championship will be held in Bahrain from December 4 to 15. Around 1,000 athletes from 114 countries are expected to participate.

HH Shaikh Nasser noted that hosting the event reflects the royal support for Bahraini sports by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and reinforces Bahrain’s role as a hub for international sports. His Highness added that the championship aligns with the government’s vision, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to diversify sports, economic, and tourism sectors in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030.

The event marks a significant milestone, being the first global Olympic-level sports championship for senior athletes hosted by Bahrain.

f His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), in advancing Bahraini sports and promoting Bahrain’s stature through hosting international events.

HH Shaikh Nasser instructed the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation (BWF), led by Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq, to ensure full readiness and deliver an event that showcases Bahrain’s organisational capabilities.
