NATIONAL MEDIA COUNCIL PRAISES AL HABTOOR’S INITIATIVE TO ESTABLISH A TV CHANNEL IN BEIRUT: A SERVICE TO LEBANON IN TIMES OF DIFFICULTIES


The National Council for Audiovisual Media, welcomed in an issued statement today, the ‘Sheikh Khalaf Al Habtoor’s initiative to establish a new television channel in Beirut, in addition to establishing a studio city that meets quality standards.’

‘The goal of the channel is to consolidate media on the basis of objectivity, transparency, and responding to the citizen’s right to know the truth outside the framework of political and sectarian agitation, which serves to restore Lebanon’s role as a bridge of communication between the Arab world and the international community,’ the Council’s statement indicated.

It stressed that “this step by Sheikh Khalaf Al Habtoor is a service to Lebanon amidst the difficulties it is witnessing, especially since it contributes to employing a significant number of Lebanese journalists, program producers, directors, and photographers.”

Finally, the Council announced in its statement that in appreciation of Sheikh Khalaf Al Habtoor’s remarkable contributions, the National Coun
cil for Audiovisual Media will be presenting to him the ‘Lebanese Media Shield’ for visual, audiovisual and electronic media, expressing gratitude for his valuable efforts on behalf of all Lebanese media professionals.
