Omani Society of Emergency Medicine Holds International Conference in Salalah


A 3-day international conference organized by the Omani Society of Emergency Medicine (OSEM) in Salalah is exploring the latest scientific and practical developments in dealing with all types of emergency cases.

More than 40 specialists from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad are taking part in the conference, hosted by the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate.

The conference looks into research on preparing for crises and disasters, with emphasis on the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in streamlining the performance of emergency departments, including the role of nursing in dealing with infectious emergencies.

The conference activities include a health exhibition that showcases outcome of 20 research papers presented by emergency medicine specialists from different countries of the world.

This is in addition to a roadshow (organized by institutions supporting the conference) featuring the latest technologies and devices used in emergency departments.

The conferen
ce programme also includes six intensive training workshops covering various aspects of emergency medicine, including an introduction to clinical toxicology and a training course on dealing with paediatric and adult emergencies.

Special workshops are dedicated to training on methods of handling critical cases in the field of eye-care, the use of ultrasound devices and the applications of electrocardiogram analysis in critical cases.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Said Harib Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs. At the ceremony, the chief guest felicitated the participants and supporters of the conference.
