Saudi FM caution against recurrence of Holy Quran burning

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah said Friday the recurrence of the desecration of the Holy Quran could incite hatred and hamper the dialogue among peoples with different cultures.

In phone call he received from Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Tobias Billstrom, the Saudi minister reaffirmed the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of any tampering with the Holy Quran, according to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affair.

Bin Abdullah urged the Swedish authorities to adopt urgent measures against the attempts of extremists to desecrate the holy book and offend Muslims worldwide. Meanwhile, Billstrom denounce, on behalf of his government, any attempts to desecrate the Holy Quran.

He regretted that some people abuse the provisions in the constitution of Sweden related to the freedom of expression.
