Turkish Interior Min. announces seven casualties from Istanbul’s floods

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Wednesday the death of two people, one of whom was a foreigner, due to the floods, in addition to five people injured.

In a press statement in Istanbul, he said that 560 homes were damaged throughout Istanbul, in addition to 663 workplaces.

Relief teams and local authorities continue their efforts to deal with the damage and provide assistance to those affected by this natural disaster.

In a related context, the Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the floods that struck Kirklareli province in northwestern Turkiye has risen to three, and efforts are still underway to search for three other people in this province, which is located in the west of the country, near the borders of Greece and Bulgaria.

Search teams are still searching for the missing citizens, he confirmed on the social networking site X, formerly known as Twitter.

During the weekend, the Black Sea region was also impacted by floods, as Turkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) expected more storms in the west and southwest of the country, warning of flash floods, lightning strikes and strong winds.
