NEP Team Holds Workshop on Developing Omanisation Strategy for Logistics Sector

The team tasked with National Employment Programme (NEP) today organized a workshop in Muscat on devising a strategy for Omanisation in the logistics sector.

Held in cooperation with various government and private sector establishments, the workshop was aimed at enhancing Omanization opportunities, addressing the challenges and forging appropriate solutions in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040.

Eng. Azhar Ahmed Al Kindi, Technical Director of the NEP, said that the workshop comprised one of the initiatives that the NEP is undertaking in conjunction with a group of partners, including “Wabas Enterprises and Investments” company, to draft a competency framework for professions in the logistics sector.

The Omanisation strategy was outlined during a presentation at the workshop. Emphasis was laid on empowering youth through the establishment of a specialized training centre, providing an opportunity to finance new projects in this sector and developing mechanisms to evaluate all businesses in a systematic manner.

A timeframe set for the strategy was reviewed during the workshop, which also elaborated on the importance of analyzing data and deficiencies, formulating objectives and discussing laws and legislation that will enable young people to join the sector
